There’s an app for that.

One of the central dogmas of feminism is that there’s no difference between men and women when it comes to careers, educational opportunities and a whole host of other factors in life including when they choose to have children. Unfortunately for feminism however, the biology of reproduction and the stark evolutionary realities often clash. Women who’ve put off having children to further their educations and careers often find that the biological imperatives that are hard-wired into their psyches are impossible to ignore especially when they realize that they might be hitting the wall when it comes to the window that they are at their most fertile. From the DailyMail U.K.:

“A developer has created an app that calculates the day most women dread: when they become infertile.

Portland, Oregon, developer Mira Kaddoura said she created The Wonder Clock to empower other women and help them face their fears about fertility.

All the app requires is a woman’s birth date to answer the question: ‘How much time do I have left?”

Feminism’s most sacred screeds are predicated on the assumption that a woman doesn’t have to worry about such concerns. That when they are ready, a man will be willing and available to ensure that her reproductive imperatives are fulfilled. Turns out that’s not quite the case:

‘I am ticking, Ms. Kaddoura, an award-winning advertising creative director, declares on the app’s website.

The home page of TheWonderClock.com is the 30-something’s own biological clock.

Her actual age, however, remains a mystery.

‘I created this clock to face my own fears. To beckon the elephant in the room so to speak,’ she says.”

This doesn’t surprise me at all. Thirty something generally means on the far side of thirty and if a woman hasn’t had children by then, a sort of panic sets in caused by her own biological imperatives. Feminism and all that attention she got when she was younger suddenly don’t mean so much when the prospect of never having children rears its ugly head. She admits as much in her own words:

“Despite her accomplishments (of which she has many), she said her lack of a family has caused her to question herself.

‘Why do I feel that somehow, at my core, I am failing?’ she asks.”

Biological imperatives are a bitch and can’t be denied no matter how many social constructs are erected to try to divert what we as humans were meant to do by nature. Nature doesn’t care how many intellectual accomplishments you have, doesn’t care how many non-profits you’ve worked for and definitely doesn’t care how successful your career is. And she will punish you if you think she does. More from the same article:

“Most doctors, however, estimate that the biological clock stops ticking around 44. She said she came up with the idea after a doctor broached the topic unexpectedly.

‘He had asked if I planned to have kids and when my answer was I hope so, he said I should start thinking seriously about it,’ Ms. Kaddoura said.”

“That caught me off guard because I was barely out of my 20s, working, traveling, learning, and growing. I never felt that time was an issue till then.”

Barely out of her twenties means early thirties. Hardly the age when most men want their women having babies. Listen to her rationalization, “working, traveling, learning and growing”. Hardly. More like being completely self-absorbed and having no clue that her choices would have consequences that will haunt her far into her future. Unfortunately for her, she’s already hit the wall. Her pic:

Imagine a world with the technology we have today where a woman downloads this app and makes it her wallpaper when she graduates high school. Hell, I’ll pay for it for any young girl that wants it. The biological imperative is strong in women to reproduce, maybe a little reminder on their smart phone might give a little nudge that even though they think they have all the time in the world to have kids, in reality, they don’t. These girls in the following video get it and that proves to me that most are capable of it.

Hit for the video from The Captain.

Edit, from reader Ace of Spades, a very relevant graph:

If that’s not self explanatory, I don’t know what is.
